Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information OctaneRPG collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the OctaneRPG Discord bot, the OctaneRPG game (including alpha and beta test builds), the OctaneRPG game servers, and this website, octanerpg.com. OctaneRPG is made by AstroNay, an independent developer, referred to here as "we" or "us".
The short version: we collect what we need to run the game and keep it fair, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
1. Information we collect
Discord bot
- Your Discord account basics: your user ID, username, display name and avatar.
- Server information: the ID and name of servers the bot is in, and settings server admins choose (such as which channels the bot may use).
- Game data: your profile, level, currencies, vehicles, items, crew, race results, cooldown times and when you last used the bot.
- Command logs: which command was used, by whom, in which server and when. We use these to fix bugs and prevent abuse.
The bot does not read the content of your messages.
OctaneRPG game and accounts
- Guest accounts: a random account ID, stored on your device and on our servers.
- Sign-in with Discord or Google: an account ID from that provider and, depending on the provider, your email address and display name. Sign-in is handled through our authentication provider, Supabase.
- Steam: when the game is available on Steam, your Steam ID, which we use as your account and to confirm you own the game.
- Game data: your progress, items, settings and gameplay events (for example races run or rewards claimed), used to save your game and keep the economy fair.
Voting sites
If you vote for the bot on a listing site such as top.gg, that site sends us your Discord user ID and the time of the vote.
This website
The website has no accounts, and we do not use cookies or analytics on it. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard request data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver and protect the site. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser also contacts Google when you visit.
When you contact us
If you message us on Discord or by email, we keep what you send so we can respond.
2. How we use it
- To run the bot and the game, save your progress, and show leaderboards.
- To detect cheating, abuse and bugs.
- To grant rewards, such as Founder rewards for players of the Discord version.
- To answer support requests and announce updates.
3. What other players can see
Your username, level, vehicles, race stats, crew, titles and leaderboard positions can be seen by other players. Your email address, sign-in details and private settings are never shown to other players.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your information and we do not show ads. We only share information with services that help us run OctaneRPG:
- Supabase (database and sign-in)
- Vultr (servers that run the bot and game services)
- Cloudflare (website hosting and security)
- Discord (the bot platform, and Discord sign-in if you choose it)
- Google (Google sign-in if you choose it, and website fonts)
- Valve / Steam (once the game is on Steam)
We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your game data while your account exists. During alpha and beta testing, game data may be reset. Command logs and server logs are kept only as long as they're useful for fixing problems. When you ask us to delete your data, we delete it from our active systems; backups expire on their own schedule.
6. Your choices
- Access or deletion: ask us for a copy of your data, or for it to be deleted, using the contact details below.
- Server admins: removing the bot from your server stops it collecting anything new from that server.
- Linked accounts: you can ask us to unlink a Discord or Google account from your game account.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data. Contact us and we will help.
7. Children
OctaneRPG is not directed at children under 13, and Discord requires its users to be at least 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security and storage
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, such as access controls and encrypted connections, but no system is perfectly secure. Your information may be stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate.
9. Changes to this policy
As OctaneRPG grows, this policy will change. We will update the effective date above, and announce significant changes in our Discord server.
10. Contact
Questions or requests: email contact@octanerpg.com or reach us in the OctaneRPG Discord server.
