Terms of Service
These terms apply when you use the OctaneRPG Discord bot, the OctaneRPG game (including alpha and beta test builds), the OctaneRPG game servers, or this website. OctaneRPG is made by AstroNay, an independent developer, referred to here as "we" or "us". By using OctaneRPG, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
1. Who can play
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if your country requires it. If you use OctaneRPG through Discord, Steam or another platform, you must also follow that platform's rules.
2. Your account
You're responsible for activity on your account. Keep your sign-in details to yourself. Guest progress is tied to your device, so clearing your game data may lose it unless you link a Discord or Google account.
3. A game in development
OctaneRPG is still being built. Features, balance and content will change. During alpha and beta testing, progress may be reset, and we'll announce resets in advance where we can. We don't guarantee the game, bot or servers will always be available or free of bugs.
4. Virtual items and currency
Coins, vehicles, parts, items and other in-game content have no real-world value. You can't sell, trade or exchange them for real money or anything outside the game. You receive a license to use them in OctaneRPG, not ownership of them, and we may adjust, rebalance or remove them as the game develops. Donations through Ko-fi are voluntary support for development and don't buy in-game items.
5. Fair play
You agree not to:
- cheat, use bots or automation, or use software that changes how the game works;
- exploit bugs instead of reporting them (please report them, we appreciate it);
- attack, overload, reverse engineer or misuse our servers or API;
- harass, threaten or impersonate other players or us;
- use names, crew names or other content that is hateful, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate;
- use OctaneRPG for anything illegal.
6. Enforcement
If you break these terms, we may warn you, rename or remove your content, reset or remove progress gained unfairly, or suspend or ban your account. For serious or repeated issues, we may do this without warning.
7. Our content
OctaneRPG, including its code, art, writing, music and logos, belongs to us or to the creators we license it from (credited on our website and in the game). You may share screenshots and videos of the game. Please don't copy or redistribute the game or its assets.
8. Other services
OctaneRPG connects to services we don't control, including Discord, Google, Steam, itch.io and Ko-fi. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms.
9. Disclaimers and liability
OctaneRPG is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect or incidental damages, or for loss of data or in-game progress, arising from your use of OctaneRPG. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under laws that can't be waived.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using OctaneRPG at any time and ask us to delete your data, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may end or change any part of OctaneRPG, including shutting down the Discord bot.
11. Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as OctaneRPG grows. We'll change the effective date above and announce significant changes in our Discord server. Continuing to use OctaneRPG after a change means you accept the new terms.
